Don Calbeck, President: Don lives in Martinez and works for Sutherland's selling printing and promotional products. He has sung with the Cantare Chorale since it was formed in 1999. Don has a long history of involvement in instrumental music. He has been active in several church choirs and has been involved through his family in many youth music groups, both choral and instrumental.
Tony Lloyd, Vice President: Tony Lives in Kensington where he is Community Service District Director
and is senior partner in The Business Axiom Management Group - a Bay Area consulting practice.
Tony is also a retired Telecommunications Marketing and Regulatory / Public Policy Director at AT&T.
He has been a choral and instrumental music performer for over 50 years.
Currently in addition to performing with the Cantare Chorale and serving as a board member he also is the
lead vocalist for the popular Bay Area Band The Blues Daddies.
Tony was elected to the officer position of Vice President in the June 2011 Board meeting and serves on Cantare’s Administrative and Governance Committee.
Sue Fitch, Secretary: Sue lives in Pleasant Hill and manages the office for the Law
Office of Joan Grimes, a bankruptcy attorney in Walnut Creek. She has been
singing in various groups from childhood, and also played the organ for many
years. She currently sings and plays the hand bells at her church. Sue has been
singing with the Cantare Chorale since 1999.
Jocelyn Van Vliet, Treasurer: Having taught high school math for six years, Jocelyn now lives in Walnut Creek and works for Key Curriculum Press developing high school mathematics curriculum and educational materials. She has participated in a variety of choral and instrumental groups since childhood, and now sings in the Cantare Chorale. Cantare’s mission and values speak directly to Jocelyn’s passion for music and education.
David Morales: David is CCV’s Founder and Artistic Director. His
professional choral conducting experience spans 30 years in the East Bay, where
he has held music positions in large Presbyterian churches and community
musical organizations. David is also a Music Instructor at Merritt College in
Oakland.
Jay Reso: Jay lives in Concord and works for Chevron USA as a team leader
for a global enterprise application projects group. Before transferring to the
Bay Area, Jay served on the Board of Directors and was the Administrative
Director of the Symphony Chorus of New Orleans.
Don Scott: Don is retired after thirty-nine years as an instrumental
music teacher in Contra Costa County public schools, and now teaches privately in
Walnut Creek. He has sung in numerous school, university and church choirs
throughout his childhood and adult life. Don has sung with the Cantare Chorale for seven years and, along with his wife Bobbi, leads the Cantare Mentoring Program, assisting high school students in their quest for college entrance.
Warren Tenbrook: Warren resides in Concord and has sung in Cantare Chorale since 1999.
He has assisted Cantare’s stage management, on-line ticketing, designed its first website, and served on the
Grants Committee and Programming Committee. Warren attends St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Pleasant Hill, singing,
playing violin and electric bass, and leading the vocal octet, Cantemos.
Warren is on the radiation protection staff at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory,
member of the American Academy of Health Physics, and is the newsletter editor for the Northern California Health Physics Society.
Barbara Whittingham: Barbara lives in Walnut Creek and works for
Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church as a Program Director. Previously she was
Program Manager for county-wide programs in public health and mental health.
She directed a grants and contracts unit receiving multi-million dollar federal
and state grants. She is a certified pastoral counselor and licensed marriage
and family therapist and has additional certifications in non-profit management
and advance care planning. She is a life-long singer, and a dedicated
environmentalist. Barbara joined the Cantare family in 2010.
Mark Wilson: Mark resides in his native hometown of Oakland, and is an
Assistant Professor at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley.
Additionally, he is a Lecturer in the Sociology Department of UC Berkeley, and
former Pastor of McGee Avenue Baptist Church. Mark is a gospel musician and
cellist and has sung in choruses since his youth attending Oakland public
schools, including choral training under the direction of David Morales in the
fledgling Oakland Youth Chorus. He now sings in the Cantare Chorale.
Derrick Wu: Derrick resides in Oakland and has been an architect in the Bay Area for over 25 years. He sings with his church choir and serves at Berkeley Chinese Community Church in various capacities. Derrick is a supporter of Cantare Con Vivo, in particular its education/outreach program.
Yvonne Crosby Young: Yvonne lives in Oakland and is a teacher in a local
elementary school. She is former Educational Program Director for the Samaritan
Neighborhood Center in Oakland. Yvonne has extensive experience as an ESL
teacher, translator (Spanish), tutor and mentor. She has served as a board member and
advisor for various community organizations and is a consistent and
enthusiastic supporter of the various music opportunities provided by CCV to
the community-at-large.
